Koto lives in a world where foreign ideas and people are not accepted, and where, as a woman, her life is not her own to live freely. Despite this, she still dreams of becoming a tailor, especially as one who creates foreign dress. The day she discovers that she's betrothed to Masaomi Kidoin, a high ranking officer in of of the oldest families in Japan, she meets Sagitto, a half British, half Indian spy that captures her imagination and heart. But can their love story have a happy ending when the British and the Japanese are tracking down Sagitto because they want him dead, and Koto is forced to live a life that doesn't fit her?
